Ciel
Ciel
"My name is Ciel and I was introduced to PMC this summer (2006) by Lisa at the Mid Cornwall School of Jewellery (http://www.mcsj.co.uk ). I've been entranced ever since ~ so much so that I have decided to continue my exploration with this amazing medium further by starting a diploma course in 2007
The two pieces I've submitted were created at home in my small kitchen. This is what I love about this medium ~ you can produce beautiful, simple pieces easily with only tools found around the house.
The first is the Iolite & Pearl bracelet. I created the focal bead and clasp with no particular idea of what to use them with, until I found a string of iolite chips. The combination of the gems stones, tiny seed pearls and PMC silver give this a wonderfully watery feeling. And it drapes so sensually over the wrist too!
To continue the theme, the second picture shows my PMC & Shell earrings. I wanted something that had loads of texture, but that could move gently beneath the ear. The shaped shell beads have a beautiful iridescence which is a perfect foil for the silver, which is textured using a piece of ash bark from my garden. I rather like the idea of the water and earth feel to this piece.
