Making ring shanks without embedding wire or soldering
An alternative method for making a ring shank is to create a strip of textured clay aprox 1” longer than required size, leave to dry.
Make the front of the ring separate, leave to dry.
Curve the shank round a ring mandrel at the required size (allowing for shrinkage) bend the ends out (trim if required) and attach with slip to the front of the ring. Leave to dry and bond, then fire.
You will need to harden the piece with a hammer afterward.
