Project gone wrong...bread saved the day!

I decided a while back to design a round beaded bracelet and thought I know – hollow beads using cork clay to fire the inner would keep the piece light weight. So, away I went and sketched out my plan for the piece. I was  happy with the design and decided to start making. Lo and behold, silly me had forgotten to air tight storage my cork clay and the lump i had, well, it was definitely a lump!! The cork clay has dried out so much it was too tough to use. PROBLEM!

This really put a negative impact on my day, until I remembered that I had previously told someone about alternative ways of making inners that will combust when torched, so I rectified my problem with 2 different materials, stale bread made soggy, and saturated kitchen towel.

Although the process took a little longer as I had to wait for the materials to dry out (unlike with the convenience of cork clay) the results were still just as good.

Here’s how to do it...

To use bread:

Take a stale(ish) piece of bread and wet it, roll it out to a ball, use a wooden skewer to pierce the bread and stand in a florists’ foam piece.

To use kitchen roll:

Fill a bowl with luke warm water, place a  sheet of kitchen towel into the water, squeeze out excess and roll into ball. Do the same as with the bread using the skewer and foam technique.

Wait 24 hours to dry out and then paste your heart away!
